COMING SOON - END OF SEPTEMBER 2026
The aim of this course is to introduce the biblical principles and practical concepts behind Church Planting Movements. Learners will discover how disciples, churches, and leaders can multiply through simple, reproducible methods, obedience-based discipleship, and empowering local believers to reach their communities.

The course is self-paced, and you can go through the content at your own pace. The course has two modules with 31 videos in total. Each module has its own final assessment. At the end of the course is an opinion survey you have to fill out. If you pass these module assessments successfully and complete the opinion survey, you will be able to generate your digitally signed certificate.
There are short multiple choice quizzes after most videos. These are intended to help you process and understand the material, not to serve as “tests” or exams. There are also reflection questions and discussion forums after most videos.

The difference between Church Planting Movements (CPMs) and Disciple Making Movements (DMMs)
Church Planting Movements (CPMs) and Disciple Making Movements (DMMs) are two different but closely related ways of spreading the gospel, making disciples, and starting churches.
Church Planting Movements (CPMs)
- Definition: CPMs are characterized by a rapid increase in the number of indigenous believers and churches that take responsibility for planting more churches.
- Historical Context: The term was popularized in the late 1990s and emphasizes the need for quick establishment of churches among unreached populations.
Disciple Making Movements (DMMs)
- Definition: DMMs focus on creating a network of disciples who are equipped to share the gospel and start new churches.
- Evolution: The shift from CPM to DMM terminology reflects a broader understanding of the Great Commission, emphasizing discipleship over mere church planting.
Both movements aim to fulfill the Great Commission, but they differ in their methodologies and priorities. CPMs focus on church growth, while DMMs emphasize the importance of discipleship as the foundation for sustainable church planting.
DMM is covered in the final module of our course Understanding Muslims - for the Sake of the Gospel. To read more about this course, click here
